About James
James is a professional kayak angler. His journey on the water began long before he ever started kayak fishing. His earliest memories are of fishing with his father. At just two years old, he was introduced to the world of fishing. On the winding rivers and lakes near his home. Early mornings and late evenings were spent casting lines and reeling in catches, such as salmon on the Bowmanville creek and bass and perch on Lake Simcoe. This was more than just a past time, this was the foundation of his lifelong passion for fishing.
As the years passed, his love for the sport only grew stronger. He dabbled in various forms of fishing. One day he witnessed a gentlemen kayak fishing and ever since, he had been hooked. He went out and bought a fishing kayak and never looked back. There is something that is uniquely challenging and exhilarating about kayak fishing.
For the past seven years, he has dedicated himself to the craft of kayak angling. The sport has taken him to some of the most beautiful and challenging fishing spots. In September 2022, James won the Ontario Kayak Bass Trail tournament, one of the highlights of his career.

His vision is to help the kayak angling community thrive and grow.
He wants to create a supportive environment where anglers can share their knowledge, learn from one another, and develop their skills. His vision of Kawartha Pro Paddle is to provide easier access to kayak rigging accessories (specifically cross boarder brands like BerleyPro, YakGadget, YakAttack and others) to help save costs for the angling community. As well as providing custom kayak rigging solutions for those who may not have the time or knowledge to rigging it them selves. James hopes to make a positive impact on the community and ensure that the joys of kayak angling is accessible to all.
James remains grateful for the experiences and opportunities that kayak angling has provided him. Together, we can navigate the waters ahead and create a thriving community of kayak anglers.
About Mackenzie
Mackenzie's professional journey is as dynamic as her love for the water. With a keen interest in business and a heart set on helping the community, she has successfully managed multiple businesses over the years. Her career began in the QSR industry, where she honed her skills in operations, customer service, and team management. These foundational years were crucial in shaping her business acumen and leadership style.
Transitioning from the restaurant industry, she ventured into the automotive sector. Here, she applied her expertise in a new context, managing operations and driving business growth, learning much along the way.
Recently, Mackenzie has discovered a new passion (mostly in due to James), kayak fishing. This activity, plus her love for the water added a new passion, combined with challenge and adventure. Looking ahead, Mackenzie has set the goal to participate in an OKBT tournament in 2025. (Stay tuned for the results). She is excited to take on this challenge as well as operating Kawartha Pro Paddle and bringing the best service and products possible to the kayak angling community.
We look forward growing and to being able to serve the kayak angling community.
Sincerely, the Kawartha Pro Paddle Team.
